FEDERAL UNIVERSITY NDUFU-ALIKE IKWO [FUNAI ]ADMISSION INTO THE FUNAI SCHOOL OF FOUNDATION STUDIES (FOUNDATION AND PRE-DEGREE PROGRAMMES) 2017/2018 SESSION

This is  to notify all interested candidates that Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates into the FUNAI School of Foundation Studies (FUNAI SFS), for admission into a non- resident Foundation and Pre-Degree programmes of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo (FUNAI). The Pre-degree programme is designed to prepare candidates for admission into degree programmes in all disciplines of the University while the Foundation programme is a 10-month intensive coaching designed to prepare candidates for direct entry admission into the 200-level of departments of candidates’ choices in FUNAI and all universities in Nigeria and abroad, affiliated to the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB).

ELIGIBILITY
Candidates for the programmes must possess a minimum of 5 credits in 5 relevant subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) at a maximum of two sittings.

DURATION
The programme normally runs for two (2) semesters within about ten (10) calendar months.

METHOD OF APPLICATION
1.     Click here to Download Guide for Candidates”, and read the instructions carefully in the guide. Create your account by clicking on “Apply Now”. You will be required to supply your email address and other required information.
2.     After creating an Account, login with your Application No. and Password and follow the necessary processes to capture your personal information and other required information.
3.     Generate your Remita Retrieval Number (RRN) and activate your RRN on the FUNAI SFS ePortal before making payment. Instructions on generating your RRN will be automatically displayed on the current page on your browser. Please read carefully and note that your RRN MUST BE ACTIVATED on the FUNAI SFS ePortal before payment is made.
4.     After payment, a 16-digit Access PIN will be sent to your Mobile Phone. Use this PIN on the ePortal to enable you complete all remaining and necessary sections of your Online Application.
5.     Ensure all sections of your application form are correctly filled, and click on “Complete Application” to submit your application to our online server. Our server shall acknowledge receipt of your form by sending an SMS to your Mobile Phone. Print two coloured copies of your Application Form.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1.     Applicants into 2017/2018 preliminary programme are advised to check the FUNAI SFS website (www.funai-foundation.com) for other relevant information.
2.     Applicants must provide a recent coloured passport photograph (taken not earlier than 3 months before time of application) with a white background. Selfies, blurred and webcam photos are strictly prohibited. Applicants who upload wrong bio-data and credentials will be disqualified and forfeit application fee.
3.     Applicants are to report to the FUNAI School of Foundation Studies for Registration and Screening, ONLY when they have received an Invitation (through email) and Admission Letter approved by the Director. Applicants are hereby advised to use valid e-mail addresses and PERSONAL telephone numbers.
4.     Applicants are advised to follow the application instructions carefully and ensure they follow the stipulated guidelines. Failure to do so may adversely affect the candidate. JAMB Will Not Rescheduled Exam for Candidates who Came Late - Prof. Oloyede

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said on Saturday 01-07-2017, that there would be no rescheduling of examination for those candidates who reported for the examination late.
According to online media source, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Oloyede, made this statement while reacting to complaint by candidates sitting for the examination at the board Computer-Base Center, CBT in Bwari, Abuja.
Prof. Oloyede, was said to have led some staff members on the supervision of the exercise, said the examination was Supplementary Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination being conducted in 170 Centers across Nigeria.
According to him, 85, 000 candidates slated for the examination were notified through text messages and warned those who came late that the board would not reschedule the examination.
In his words he said, “There is nothing you can do … we placed adverts in newspapers, sent e-mails and text messages and if you did not get it, it means that you were not invited for the exam.
“A bulk Short Message Service (SMS) was equally sent to your telephone numbers that you provided during the registration.
“We will not reschedule the exam for people who came late.”
However, the JAMB registrar, explained that the computes had been programmed to work under a specific time frame and urged candidates to engage the computer regularly to avoid disruption.
In his words, “If you do not use it, it will go off. When you sit and you are not doing anything within that time frame, we also monitor from our system to ensure you that candidates are not cheating.”
According to News Agency of Nigeria 85, 000 candidates of the 1.7 million enrolled for the 2017 UTME had registered late for the exam and also had some challenges with the exam.

The JAMB Examination which held in two sessions lasted for two hours from 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m.

GUIDELINE TO APPLICANTS ON EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY FOR EACH CATEGORY
  • A1 - Marine Engineer Artificers
OND in Marine or Mechanical Engineering (at least Lower Credit) and must also possess SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language, Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
  • A2 - Weapon Electrical Artificers
OND in Electrical Electronic Engineering (at least Lower Credit) and must also possess SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language, Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
  • A3 - Aircraft Engineering Artificers (Airframe Engine) Qualification
Diploma in Airframe & Engine recognized by ICAO and must also posses SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • A4 - Aircraft Engineering Artificers (Avionics & Aircraft Electrics, Electrical / Electronics)

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language and Christian Religious Knowledge. Two years experience as clergy/church worker as well as letter of recommendation by 2 Clerics/churches recognized by the NN is required.
  • D5 - Mosque Assistants
SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of Arabic, Islamic Religious Knowledge and English Language. Two years experience as Imam/Mosque attendant as well as letter of recommendation by 2 Islamic clerics/organizations recognized by the NN is required.
  • D6 - Firemen
SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language.
  • E1 - Writers
SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language, Maths, Accounts/Economics. Computer skill is compulsory. Also OND/NCE in Accounts or Secretariat Administration would be added advantage.
  • E2 - Store Assistants
SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language, Maths and Economics. Computer skill is an added advantage.
  • E3 - Caterers
SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language and Home Management/Food Nutrition. Certificate or Navy proven experience as a Waiter or Steward is an advantage.
  • E4 - Ordinance
Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other 2 subjects.
  • E5 - Project Technicians.
OND in relevant discipline such as Architecture, Quantity Survey, Civil/ Structure/ Building technology, Electrical/ Mechanical installation, Urban and Rural Planning, Estate Management, Land Economy and must also possess SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language, Maths and Physics.
  • F1 - Medical Assistants

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language. Certificate in music and proficiency in any musical instrument will be an added advantage.
  • H - Drivers/Mechanics
SSCE or Equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language. Current Mechanic apprenticeship certificate and evidence of driving experience as well as a letter of recommendation (as a mechanic) from past or present employer is required.
  • J - Journalists
OND in Mass Communication, Journalism, Photography, Printing Technology, Information Library, Public Relations, Graphic Arts, Film Making and Cinematography and must also possess SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language and Maths
  • K - Nurses
Single qualification RN and double qualification in any relevant qualification such as RM, A&E, ENT, Psychiatric, Paediatric, Orthopaedic/Trauma, Ophthalmic, Anesthetic, Public Health, Occupational Health, Nephrology/Dialysis all Theatre Nursing and must also possess SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Maths, Biology/Health Science, Physics and Chemistry.
  • N - Education
NCE in Arts/Science/Technical subjects in addition to SSCE/equivalent with 5 Credits inclusive of English Language and Maths for Science/Technical subjects or 5 credits Including English Language and at least a pass in Maths for Arts subjects.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES FOR NIGERIAN NAVY 2017 RECRUITMENT EXERCISE
1. Applicants should possess any of the following educational and/professional qualifications:
1.     West African School Certificate/Senior Secondary School Certificate.
2.     General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level.
3.     WAEC City and Guilds or London City and Guilds.
4.     Ordinary National Diploma (OND).
5.     Any other educational qualification equivalent to those mentioned above.
6.     All applicants must produce their primary school leaving certificate.
7.     Applicants are to note that entry requirement into the following categories is SSCE or equivalent: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, C1, D1, D2, D4, D5, D6, E1, E2, E3, E4, F1, G, H. Any other additional qualifications in these categories can only serve as an added advantage for selection into the branch and not for advancement. See the guide for details.
2.     Any applicant possessing higher educational/professional qualification, i.e. HND, BA/BSc, etc other than those stated in Paragraph 1 (a-g) should not apply. Candidates are therefore warned that it is an offence to declare false educational/professional qualification. This attracts outright withdrawal or dismissal and hand over to Civil Police for prosecution.
3.     Any certificate or qualification not declared or tendered and accepted during the recruitment exercise is not acceptable after recruitment and cannot be tendered for the purpose of change of branch or advancement while in the Naval service. Only qualifications obtained through proper service provisions are tenable after joining.
4.     Applicants must be between the ages of 18 - 22 years at the time of entry into the Training School for school certificate holders, while 24 years of age is the acceptable limit for those with higher qualifications e.g. Nurses, NCE Holders, ICT Professionals, etc.
5.     Applicants must not be married or have children before joining.
6.     Applicant is required to print out Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Local Government Attestation Form.
7.     Applicants must be of Nigerian origin by birth.
8.     Applicants with any of the following problems are NOT to apply: short sight, ear problem, previous orthopedic operation, flat foot, below the required height (Male 1.70, Female 1.67), fracture, stammering or any natural disability.
9.     Applicants must be free from any previous conviction by court of law on criminal charges.
10.                       Applicants must come to the recruitment centres with the following documents:
a.                  Photocopies of Birth Certificate or Age Declaration.
b.                 Photocopies of Credentials.
c.                  Duly completed identification form to be signed by Chairman or Secretary of the candidate's LGA or by an officer of the rank of Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) or Equivalent and above from candidate’s State of Origin.
d.                 Duly completed Parent Consent form to be signed by Applicant’s Parent or Guardian.
e.                  Four passport photographs duly signed and stamped by any of the persons mentioned in Sub-Paragraph (c) above.
f.                   Candidates are advised to bring the scratch cards of their NECO and WAEC results to the recruitment centres.
11.                       Applicants are to bring the following to the Aptitude Test Centres:
0.                 Parents/Guardian Consent Form.
1.                 Local Government Attestation Card.
2.                 Acknowledgment Form.
3.                 Photocopies of Certificates including NYSC Discharge Certificate.
12.                       The completed application form is to be submitted online.
13.                       Applicants will be required to produce original of all copies of credentials listed in Paragraph 1 before recruitment.
14.                       Any applicant suspected to have impersonated, forged or submitted false document(s) shall be disqualified from the recruitment exercise. Such applicant shall also be handed over to the Civil Police for prosecution.
15.                       The date for the Recruitment Aptitude Test is 7 October 2017.
16.                       Please note that any attempt to inundate the Naval Headquarters with letters from any quarters by any applicant will be viewed as a ploy to undermine the enlistment process and will lead to disqualification of such applicants. In addition, applicants are to note that the entire enlistment process is free and they should refrain from giving money to any individual under any guise.
