SPORT NEWS: Walcott: I need more playing time at Arsenal

The England international was pleased at having helped the Gunners claim a draw at Old Trafford on Sunday but he had started the game on the bench

Theo Walcott feels he needs more playing time if he is to get back to his best after his equaliser sealed a point for Arsenal against Manchester United.

The England winger's cross deflected off Tyler Blackett to cancel out Ander Herrera's opener in a result which left the Gunnners on the verge of securing a place in the Champions League group stage.

And Walcott, who missed nine months with a ruptured cruciate ligament in 2014, feels he requires more than cameo appearances off the bench if he is to continue having an impact.

"I’ve been very patient coming back from injury," he told Sky Sports "I just need more minutes really. As a substitute you need to be positive. It was a great result today.

"When you come to Old Trafford and you get a positive result, it showed how fit we are as a team. It’s a crucial point and we just need one more point for third because of goal difference.

"Its always tough coming back but I feel part of the squad. The manager's been patient with me. I feel like I'm getting stronger and quicker."
