Military boat capsizes, 2 soldiers feared dead in Delta State

Two Nigerian soldiers were yesterday confirmed dead in a boat mishap involving the military at Egwa 1 of the Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The GutsyNaija on Saturday gathered that the incident happened around an SPDC flowstation near Batan.
Aside the two dead soldiers, scores were also said to have sustained serious injuries from the incident. The boat was said to be speeding when the accident occurred.

A military source who confirmed the incident told our correspondent that the incident happened at about 10am yesterday.

Local sources from a community near the scene of the incident while also confirming the incident said the military boat was speeding from a sharp-bending corner during their patrol.

Another military source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the corpse of the victims have been evacuated to a morgue in Warri while other occupants of the boat were receiving treatment at an undisclosed clinic in the city.

Spokesperson of the JTF, Col. Isa Ado, could be reached for confirmation of the incident as at press time.

This brings to five the number of military personnel who have died from boat mishap in the last two weeks in Delta State.
