Niger Delta Avengers - Please Stop Bombing Oil Installation - Edwin Clark Begs

GutsyNaija Report.

A prominent Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has appealed to militants in the Niger Delta to sheathe their swords and stop the bombing of oil installations in the region.

Clark, who is a former Minister of Information, said the bombing of critical gas installations and its attendant impact on the national economy was a great shock to him.
He said that it would be better for the militants to present their grievances to the Federal Government instead of embarking on the destruction of oil installations.
The former minister spoke at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
He told the aggrieved militants that Niger Delta had yet to recover from the season of violence which the region experienced between 2005 and 2009.
He said, “The new wave of attacks and destruction of critical oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta and the attendant impact on the national economy are of great shock to me.
“I had believed that pipeline destruction and oil installation vandalism were eliminated under the proclamation of the amnesty on October 4, 2009.
“Furthermore, the reports are a surprise to me because not so long ago, I had cause to make a passionate appeal for a total end to the destruction of the oil and gas facilities throughout the country because they are the major economic artery of the nation.”
