PDP Crisis Depens as Mantu, Makarfi factions are yet to reconcile

Against the reports that Ahmed Makarfi-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ibrahim Mantu-led Concerned PDP Stakeholders are at the verge of reconciliation, it was learnt yesterday that reconciliation was still far from the groups.

A highly placed stakeholder of Mantu’s group told our correspondent that the only recognised organ of the party that can bring the factions together was the Board of Trustees (BoT)
The source added that the two factions were supposed to have met on Monday, but insisted that BoT was the only legally constituted body in the party that can convene such meeting of reconciliation.

The source said: “The only way the two factions can meet for a meeting is for the BoT to convene such meeting. The BoT is the only legally constituted body in the party now that can bring unity among the factions. When there is situation like this, it is the BoT that would take charge.”

Section 32 (5f & g) provides that the BoT as the conscience of the party should offer advice on party matters to the National Executive Committee of the party and ensure highest standards of morality in all activities in the party.
