Saraki wants CCT Chairman to withdraw from his Case

Nigerian Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday filed a fresh application, seeking for the disqualification of Danladi Umar, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), from further hearing his ongoing a 16-count  corruption case charges at the Tribunal (CCT).

According to GutsyNaija, Senator Saraki accused the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tirbunal (CCT) Danladi Umar of being biased on the comment he made at the last proceedings on June 7, 2016, while warning defense team against delay tactics.

According to GutsyNaija, the statement Read “I am not happy with the delay tactics by the defense counsel and I must say this thing out that this delay tactics will not reduced the consequences the defendant will meet in this Tribunal at the end of the trial” Umar Lamented.

Senator Saraki, through his lawyer is Kanu Agabi (SAN) alleged that Umar’s statement would prejudice the outcome of the trial.

Now the fresh application is the second filed by the Senate President asking the CCT chairman to withdraw from his trial.

The Umar-led Code of conduct Tribunal (CCT) had on April28 dismissed the earlier application which sought the withdrawal of the CCT chairman from the trial on the basis of the alleged ongoing investigation of his involvement in N10m bribery allegation.
